The ergoPouch Commitment to Organic and Sustainable Sleepwear

From day one, ergoPouch has strongly believed in organic, natural fibre products that care for your child as much as the environment. ‘Organic’ and ‘sustainable’ are woven into the fabric of our brand, our business and our DNA, not just our sleeping bags and sleepwear. We choose to commit to the environment so our babies, babies, can embrace Mother Earth and all that she offers. ergoPouch is honoured to be certified by the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), a badge we wear with pride. Our fabrics are GOTS Certified annually at our factory by Peterson Control Union. The GOTS is the worldwide leading textile processing standard for organic fibres, including ecological and social criteria, backed up by independent certification of the entire textile supply chain.

Why choose ergoPouch organic sleepwear for your child?

1. Breathability

Babies have susceptible, delicate and absorbent skin from the moment they’re earthside. And did you know a new baby cannot regulate its own body temperature? This is something your sweet babe will learn as they grow, but wondering whether they are warm or cool enough can be a fraught predicament for many new parents in those early days. Discomfort due to body temperature can also cause your baby to wake during sleep. Natural fibres are much safer for your child and better for their skin than synthetic sleepwear because they allow their skin to breathe whilst simultaneously providing warmth. Natural fibres reduce the chance of overheating by regulating body temperature and make for a more comfortable sleep. Our TOG-rated organic sleepwear is thermally graded to give you confidence that your little Goldilocks will be not too hot, not too cold, but just right as they slumber (no waking from cold toes or hot, sweaty feels, hooray!)

2. Skin-friendly

Organic cotton and bamboo are grown and manufactured without the use of harmful chemicals and pesticides. They are not genetically modified like conventional cotton to minimise the impact on the environment. Unlike synthetic fibres which can irritate delicate new skin, breathable organic cotton is soft and gentle on sensitive skin, reducing eczema flare-ups from chemicals or heat.

“I have been using your suits with my daughter for two years. My daughter has eczema, and I have found them a game-changer for helping her sleep.”–Anna, ergoPouch customer.

3. Non-toxic

We choose to create organic cotton essential sleepwear to limit any exposure to nasties entering your mini’s skin while they sleep. Organic Cotton farmers use less water when growing to reduce toxic emissions while replenishing soil fertility for future crops. Organic cotton is harvested free from pesticides, herbicides and is environmentally favourable to our beautiful mother earth; our fibres are dyed using water-based ink, meaning they're non-toxic for your child and their skin and better for our waterways and the environment. You can be assured your baby's skin will sleep on soft, eco-friendly sleepwear. Our fabrics are chemically tested and certified annually to show they are free from lead, phthalates and formaldehyde by Hangzhou C&K Testing Technic Co Ltd. We're thrilled to have been awarded the Bronze rosette for the Baby Sleeping Bag category at the Australian Non-Toxic Awards 2019. The products were judged on their standards of non-toxic ingredients and materials, quality, function and efforts made for the product to be produced in a socially responsible way. We were honoured to be short-listed and proud to be one of the leading brands in ethical, sustainable sleepwear and the most affordable product in the winner's circle. ergoPouch is committed to providing your family organic, natural fibre products that look after our environment as much as they do your minis.

4. Sustainable

We at ergoPouch encourage the reuse of our products. Each product is made with the highest quality materials and double stitched for long-lasting durability. The high quality of our materials and manufacturing process means an ergoPouch will last several years and multiple children. It is our hope that families reuse and hand-down an ergoPouch for years to come, generating less consumption over time. Purchasing Organic Cotton also protects workers and the environment in the manufacturing process by reducing their exposure to toxic chemicals and therefore improving their health and ours, which is highly essential and non-negatable to our values at ergoPouch.

We want to help you build your child's sleep wardrobe so it functions as you need it to, without the excess. As you start transitioning to a more sustainable and organic lifestyle, remember to keep in mind the importance of Organic Cotton. Your little one can rest easy with ergoPouch knowing they are sleeping in comfortable and breathable sleepwear that supports cotton farmers and reduce soil and water pollution.
